Christmas Prayer

The condescending incandescents

Encasing each sap-filled limb

Shining brightly off the handmade crafts

Projecting joy from them

The power of a guilt-filled holiday

Leads family in despair

The biggest presents, most expensive toys

Leaves the less fortunate with envious stare

With togetherness and gratitude skipped over

For the newest electronic craze

The families that ignore the trends

Have the brightest days

With packages opened and paper strewn

Children and parents part

Each to separate quarters of home

Igniting bad ways with more unpleasant starts

The joy of Christmas morning

Brings such a love-filled room

But over faster than it began

Banishes love back to its tomb

If we could all live as the less fortunate do

I believe we could all finally realize

We already have all we need

Provided by our families size
